How To Get Handwriting Recognition In Notability

Notability Logo

Gingerlabs, the company behind the note-taking app Notability, decided to exclude the Handwriting Recognition feature from their standard version of their app.

Instead, they lowered the app price and add an in-app purchase. So if you are wondering “Why is Handwriting Recognition not working in Notability” this might be the reason.

One reason for this change in pricing policy might be the fact that the engine behind the handwriting recognition is provided by and licensed from MyScript. By switching to an in-app purchase model
this might decrease the overall licensing costs as fewer users will use it. Just personal speculation!

GoodNotes 5 and Noteshelf still provide handwriting recognition out of the box!
