If you also think this is a must-have feature, make sure to upvote for it on the ClickUp feedback site here!
ClickUp provides the functionality that you can add a chat to your lists. This is a great way to have general discussions about certain topics without using the comments too much. This allows us to have a general discussion on a top-level topic.
However, many companies and teams use different communication channels for that. In my case, I use Slack for my team discussions. In there I have a #design channel discussing new setups, reworks, potential new tasks, etc. The same goes for a #videoedits channel. This works well. However, as soon we discuss certain tasks I’ll always ensure to link the ClickUp task or comment to slack so we get the information there. There is nothing worse than disconnected information floating around in Slack. As soon I have to search for something I remember we were talking about, it is already a bad sign. The same goes for emails by the way.
As so many of my part-time employees are using Slack with their other clients, they are already in there. This means, if I reach out to one, chances are good, they will see it. If I force them to talk through the ClickUp chat, it is unlikely that they will respond. It is even unlikely that I will respond this way!
So here is what would get the system from a workaround to a whole new efficiency level. We need a deep integration between Slack and ClickUp! I think it is very straight forward. When I create a chat in ClickUp I want to get the option to connect it with a Slack Channel. Done. Looking at Notion, we have a similar option there. We can connect pages to Slack. However, it is sending updates on those pages, not a conversation. So this is useless and even decreasing efficiency, as we are constantly notified about any change on Notion. ClickUp also integrates with Slack. However, it also just sends any comment updates to one specific Slack channel. Even if it is not related to my work…
I am curious what your thoughts are on that. So please let me know in the comments below!
